The continuous development and progress of automatic control, power electronics, communication technology and other technologies have led to unprecedented development of distribution automation technology. Comprehensive use of distribution automation technology to develop a new generation of distribution automation terminal DTU is a direction for future DTU development. The current DTU has many acquisition channels, high real-time performance, supports multiple communication methods, can realize cascading between terminals, and has relatively high data processing and computing speed. However, as technology continues to be mentioned, DTU will develop in seven directions in the future: integration, diversification, intelligence, automation, scalability, interoperability, and plug-and-play. The future DTU development trend block diagram is shown in Figure 1.2.
(1) Integrate, interact and integrate information from other application systems.
(2) Diversification. Applicable to different regions and can be audited and transformed.
(3) Intelligent, realize fault analysis and automatic data processing through intelligent application platform.
(4) Automation, user-defined automatic control function.
(5) Scalability. For current hardware and software, it is expandable and easy to modify.
(6) Interoperability, able to communicate with any manufacturer’s smart terminal.
(7) Plug and play, the device system connected to the network can automatically identify
