GPRS wireless communication

GPRS wireless communication is a new packet data carrying service developed on the existing GSM system. It is especially suitable for intermittent, sudden or frequent, small-scale data transmission, and is also suitable for occasional large amounts of data. transmission, this feature is suitable for most mobile Internet applications.

Traditional remote data transmission solution

There are three main types of traditional remote data transmission solutions:

1. Use a microprocessor to drive the network card and connect to the Internet through Ethernet to transmit data;

2. Use the microprocessor to drive the modem and use dial-up Internet access for data transmission;

3. Use GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) network to transmit data through short message communication.

These solutions all have certain drawbacks, limiting the application areas of the system and reducing system efficiency. The drawback of the first two solutions is their dependence on wired networks. In reality, many data collection locations do not have or are inconvenient to use wired networks. The disadvantage of the third solution is that short message transmission in the GSM network uses channel command time slots to transmit data without a dedicated data channel, resulting in limited transmission data size, low data transmission rate, high cost, and poor real-time performance and reliability.

Data transmission scheme based on GPRS wireless communication

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a new mobile communication service launched by China Mobile and developed on the existing GSM system. It uses a packet-based approach to allow data packets to reach their destination as much as possible. GPRS wireless communication greatly improves the utilization of transmission channels by applying high-speed packet data technology. It has the advantages of high data transmission rate, always online, and billing based on flow. Theoretically, the upper limit of GPRS wireless communication data transmission is 171kb/s. China is in the vigorous development stage of GPRS technology application. GPRS networks in many areas can already provide transmission rates of 40 to 70 kb/s. With the improvement of existing networks, And with the improvement of technology, GPRS wireless communication data transmission rate and service quality will steadily improve.

The GPRS network can be interconnected with the Internet. Users in the GPRS network can use the Point to Point Protocol (PPP) to establish a connection with the GPRS network service provider, obtain their own IP address, and then use The TCP/IP protocol transmits data with hosts on the Internet.

Remote data collection and transmission systems based on GPRS wireless communication generally use the RS485/232 interface to read external data. If the GPRS network or GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) network is available, the data is sent to the data center through GPRS communication or SMS. Otherwise, storing the data in external memory can realize various real-time data collection and transmission needs. It is widely used in industrial automation, hydrology and water conservancy, environmental protection, security, vehicle, media and other fields, and the operation is stable and efficient.
