The foundation of intelligent manufacturing is the interconnection of industrial information, and industrial intelligent gateways play an important role in industrial interconnection. A technical solution for an industrial smart gateway is given: taking TI’s industrial-grade Sitara processor and embedded Linux operating system as the core, and completing the analysis of various industrial protocols through the co-processor on the Sitara chip; using OPC UA unified architecture , as a unified interface for information exchange between OT and IT; by cutting and modifying the MySQL source code, using MySQL as the edge embedded storage database of the intelligent gateway; by streamlining and compiling the PHP source code and operating environment, developing PHP-based software in the embedded environment Web management software. OPC UA41 is a set of data exchange standards that are safe, reliable, manufacturer- and platform-independent, and used for industrial communications. It is vigorously promoted by the OPC Foundation. OPCUA is a specification jointly formulated by manufacturers, end users, scientific research institutions and industry associations to achieve secure information exchange in different systems. This specification enables data exchange in a standard format between devices from different operating systems and manufacturers.
In 2018, TI launched the Sitara series ARM processor 5 for industrial interconnection. Through the communication protocol processor PRU-ICSS carried on the chip, it can complete the interconnection with industrial communication equipment of various manufacturers by replacing different industrial communication protocol software versions. Interoperability is an ideal choice for industrial smart gateways. At the same time, the Swedish HMS company’s Anybus[6] industrial interconnection SOC solution NP40, which has been commercialized, is also an ideal choice, but it requires the addition of a main control CPU to the periphery.
Currently, most of the mature industrial intelligent gateways on the market are foreign companies, represented by HMS Softing. Foreign companies have mature technologies, but the cost is high. A few domestic companies also have similar products, but their functions are not very complete.
