Comparison of the advantages of GPRS and 4G networks in remote wireless transmission

Wireless data transmission refers to the use of wireless data transmission modules to remotely transmit data or various physical quantities output by industrial field equipment. It can be used for wireless analog quantity collection or wireless switch quantity control. If the switch quantity is transmitted, it can be done remotely. Equipment telemetry remote control.

Wireless data transmission can be divided into public network data transmission and private network data transmission. Public network wireless transmission includes GPRS, 3G, 4G, etc.; private network wireless transmission includes MDS data transmission radio, WiFi, ZigBee, etc. Here, we take the most commonly used GPRS and 4G networks as examples to analyze their different advantages in remote wireless data transmission.

1. GPRS network

The GPRS network is a wireless data transmission network provided by China Mobile. As long as there is a GPRS signal, it can support wireless data transmission. It has the advantages of wide-area coverage, always online, pay-as-you-go billing, and high-speed transmission.

1. Wide area coverage: GPRS has good coverage in more than 240 cities in 31 provinces across the country. Basically, wherever mobile phones can make calls, you can access the wireless Internet through GPRS.

2. Always online: As long as the GPRS application is activated, it will always remain online, similar to wireless dedicated line network services.

3. Pay-as-you-go billing: Although the GPRS service remains online all the time, you don’t have to worry about the cost, because it is only billed when communication traffic is generated.

4. High-speed transmission: Currently, GPRS can support a peak transmission rate of 53.6Kbps, and the theoretical peak transmission can reach more than 100 Kbps.

2. 4G network

4G communication has asymmetric data transmission capabilities of more than 2Mb/s, and the data rate exceeds UMTS. It is an ideal mode to support high-speed data rate (2~20Mb/s) connections. The Internet speed increases from 2Mb/s to 100Mb/s, with Automatic switching capability between different rates. 4G network has the following advantages:

1. Fast communication speed: The transmission rate of the communication system can reach 20Mbps, or even up to 100Mbps. This speed will be equivalent to about 10,000 times the transmission speed of the latest mobile phones in 2009, and 50 times the transmission speed of the third-generation mobile phones.

2. Broad network spectrum: The communication bandwidth is much higher than the bandwidth of the cellular system of the 3G network, which is equivalent to 20 times that of the W-CDMA3G network.

3. Flexible communication: materials, pictures, and images can be downloaded and transferred in both directions.

4. It also has the characteristics of high intelligence and good compatibility.

GPRS and 4G network remote wireless data transmission technology are widely used in heating pipe network monitoring, water supply and drainage pipe network monitoring, agricultural greenhouse environmental monitoring, livestock and poultry aquaculture environmental monitoring, storage tank and warehouse environmental monitoring, and laboratory collection and computer room environmental monitoring. , atmospheric environment monitoring, production and manufacturing intelligent monitoring and other monitoring and early warning systems.
