Basic usage of DTU

DTU initiates a TCP/IP communication request to the data center through the data center’s IP address, port number and other parameters. After receiving the response from the remote server, DTU implements remote networking requirements, maintains data communication status, and sends terminal data to the network. The working principle of DTU is to realize the establishment of TCP or UDP communication connection, and then two-way communication can be achieved. Once the DTU receives the user’s serial port data, the DTU immediately encapsulates the serial port into a TCP /UDP data packet and sends it to the data center. DTU is networked through the operator’s cellular network to realize data transmission. If the SIM card is not used, the cellular network cannot be passed, TCP communication cannot be established, and the gprs dtu cannot work properly. What about other cellular forms such as 4G LTE DTU or NB-IoT DTU, or data transmission terminals of Cat-1 networks? The answer is the same. The DTU device of the cellular network cannot connect to the cellular network without a SIM card, just like the serial port server cannot perform normal networking without a network cable.

What environment is DTU suitable for?

(1) Environments that are not conducive to wired network deployment, such as outdoors;

(2) The distance between transmission terminals at the project site is relatively scattered;

(3) An environment that can withstand a delay of 2 seconds (since cellular networks are not as timely as wired networking equipment such as serial servers, but if the project can bear a delay of less than 2 seconds, DTU equipment can be selected)

(4) If the data communication rate is below 30kbps, you can choose gprs dtu. If the rate is between 40-90kbps, you can consider the 3G network. If the demand is higher than 90kbps, directly consider 4G or Cat-1 equipment .
