Q1: What are the advantages of NB-IoT?

Answer: It supports 50K user connections in a single cell, has obvious advantages of low power consumption, and the tariff is also very cheap.

Q2: What communication methods does NB-IoT support?

Answer: Supports TCP and UDP protocols, and application layer communication includes: MQTT, CoAP, and LWM2M.

Q3: Does NB-IoT support text messages?

Answer: The feature is supported, but it is not currently enabled.

Q4: Does NB-IoT support positioning?

Answer: NB-IoT supports base station positioning. Currently, it is only supported by Telecom. It requires access to Telecom’s IoT platform.

Q5: How many working modes does NB-IoT have?

Answer: There are 3 types: Active, Idle and PSM.

Q6: Who controls NB-IoT mode switching?

Answer: It depends on the NB card used to confirm the use of different APNs, the coordination of APN information and the base station coordination mode switching time.

Q7: Can the base station page the terminal?

Answer: The base station cannot page in the PSM state, only in the Connect or Idle state.

Q8: Can NB-IoT switch cells (mobility)?

Answer: Supported.

Q9: What is the CoAP protocol?

Answer: The CoAP protocol is based on UDP, similar to the relationship between TCP and HTTP.

Q10: Does NB-IoT all use eSIM?

Answer: The product feature of NB-IoT is that it does not require installation and configuration, it can work directly after being turned on and connected to the network, and it supports functions such as automatic device registration and over-the-air upgrades. SIM cards and eSIM will coexist for a long time, and operators reject the soft SIM model.
